A stable Afghanistan post 9/11 is in US interests says former US diplomat

Former US diplomat Zalmay Khalilzad says Washington has a ‘principal interest’ in preventing Afghanistan from becoming a hub for anti-US groups. Khalilzad was US ambassador in Afghanistan shortly after 9/11, and says the focus should be on countering China and Russia’s influence.
