Family of four killed in Israeli strike on northern Gaza
Israeli attacks on the Palestinian occupied territory continue despite a ‘ceasefire’ brokered in October.
A family of four has been killed in an Israeli air strike in the northern town of Beit Lahiya, as Israel continues to strike the Gaza Strip despite a United States-backed “ceasefire” in effect since October 2025.
Israeli warplanes carried out an air attack overnight on Thursday in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital, killing a Palestinian man, his wife, and their two daughters, sources told Al Jazeera.

An official at Al-Shifa hospital also told the AFP news agency that “the bodies of four members of the Ahmad family were recovered in pieces”. The children were identified as aged 12 and eight.
Separately on Thursday, Israeli helicopters opened fire in the vicinity of the Jabalia camp, and there were reports of artillery fire in northern Gaza.
Al Jazeera correspondent Shadi Shalhoub, reporting from Gaza City, said there were several strikes across the Strip on Thursday.
“An Israeli drone strike a short while ago targeted a group of Palestinians in the al-Daraj neighbourhood, east of Gaza City,” he said. “This strike resulted in the wounding of three Palestinians, including one critical case, who arrived a short while ago at Al-Shifa Hospital.”
Several Palestinians were also injured after an Israeli drone targeted Al-Haq Mosque, west of Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, according to local sources.
Shalhoub said Israeli drones struck Nuseirat camp and the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, wounding a large number of people, some critically, while Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians near the Jabalia camp.
“There is a complete collapse in the health system,” Shalhoub added. “Hospitals are operating at the bare minimum through small generators, with electricity cut off from the Gaza Strip for the third consecutive year … The occupation continues to impose strict restrictions, preventing fuel, oil and spare parts from reaching hospitals.”
Medical sources at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City told the Palestinian Wafa news agency that the facility’s main generator had stopped operating on Thursday due to a shortage of oil and spare parts.
The shutdown forced the suspension of the hospital’s imaging department, including the only CT scanner in northern Gaza, and led to reduced medical services and postponed surgeries, Wafa reported, citing the sources who said the hospital faces a risk of collapse and urgently needs assistance to sustain essential services.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed 73,669 people since October 7, 2023, mostly women and children, according to local authorities, with the total number of injuries reaching 174,652.
