Israeli strikes hit water plant, warehouse in Gaza, killing at least seven

Israeli forces have launched attacks across Gaza, hitting a mosque, a water desalination plant and tents housing displaced people, killing at least seven people and wounding several others.

The victims on Monday included at least two children, including a four-year-old boy, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

In central Gaza, an Israeli strike hit a house in the Bureij refugee camp, killing a child, identified as four-year-old Hassan al-Hafi, according to Wafa.

In southern Gaza, another child, identified as Amal Nash’at Abu Khater, died from gunshot wounds after Israeli forces fired on her in Khan Younis.

Another man died of wounds sustained during an Israeli raid on a tent in central Deir el-Balah early on Monday, Wafa reported, adding that two others also died from injuries sustained during Israeli attacks last week.

The deaths came a day after Israeli forces killed three Palestinians, including another four-year-old child, in attacks on Khan Younis and the town of az-Zawayda.

The ongoing strikes come despite a United States-brokered ceasefire to end Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, and amid diplomatic efforts to disarm Hamas and get Israeli troops to withdraw from the Gaza Strip.

Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah, said the Israeli military issued forced displacement orders for at least four sites in Gaza ahead of Monday’s attacks.

They included strikes on a water desalination plant, a mosque and a warehouse holding humanitarian supplies.

“These sites are considered safe under the ceasefire agreement, but the Israeli military has been intensifying attacks under the pretext of security,” Abu Azzoum said. “People on the ground say the ceasefire has effectively represented an extension of the war itself, as attacks continue without respite. Many remain sceptical about the next phase of Israeli military action – whether the security pretext will be used to justify further operations here in Gaza.”

A total of 1,288 Palestinians have been killed since the October 2025 ceasefire agreement, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The total death toll since the genocidal war on Gaza was launched in October 2023 has risen to 73,422, with a further 174,401 wounded.
