Urooba writes news, analysis, features and live blogs on international politics and human rights around the world and has reported from multiple countries, notably Canada; Ecuador; the UK; Qatar, where she covered the Arab-Islamic summit following Israel’s attack on Doha; Pakistan, where she reported on the experiences of children living with a deadly blood disorder; and Bosnia, where she interviewed survivors of the Srebrenica genocide during its 30th anniversary in 2025. Urooba previously worked for Business Insider and the Associated Press in London, as well as Latin America’s largest media network, teleSUR, in Ecuador. Her work has previously been published by international outlets including CNN, the Washington Post and Vice. Urooba was a member of the Al Jazeera Live Page team which received Edward R Murrow Breaking News awards in 2024 and 2025 for its coverage of the Israeli war on Gaza. In 2019, she was named Journalist of the Month by the International Journalists' Network.
